Welcome to The Redoubt

Defending truth, honor and decency across borders.

Welcome to The Redoubt

It feels like the very idea that life could be better is under assault. An era of utopian idealism this is not. The worst among us have seized power and are determined to wield it.

Enter The Redoubt, a publication devoted to the truth, honor and decency — to serving as a secure foothold for the values that are now under attack. Those who believe in justice and equality have suffered losses, but we refuse to call these defeats, and we reject the comforts of nihilism and submission.

So, yes: a digital magazine — one that aims to enlighten its readers with the original reporting and analysis that's too often missing from the corporate press. Its perspective will be international, reflecting its founding in Vienna, Austria, and its aim will be to highlight and strengthen connections across borders. And while America will be a recurring topic, the goal is to serve readers from all over the world.

The intent is to never put up a paywall. The Redoubt is a fortress, not a silo. But if you are interested in building something that lasts, and have the means to do so, we welcome paying subscribers, starting at $8 a month. Perks include the ability to comment and receipt of our weekly newsletter; for $15 a month and up, you can also receive our monthly dispatch containing exclusive commentary and a roundup of the best in international journalism.

We also accept donations. And if you have a story idea, wish to republish our work or just have a suggestion, please reach out.
